Biblical Equality and Radical Feminism
What is the Difference?
recording by Aida Besancon Spencer

Feminism is the theory that women should have political, economic, and social rights equal to those of men. This session explores points of agreement and points of disagreement among feminists with the goal of increasing dialogue. We often agree with the importance of experience, community, reversal of positions and creativity, but disagree about the nature of the Bible, nature of God, and the meaning and extent of sin.

AIDA BESANCON SPENCER is professor of New Testament at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a founding pastor of Pilgrim Church, in Beverly, Massachusetts. She is on the CBE Board of Reference and is an editorial consultant with Priscilla Papers. As writer of Beyond The Curse: Women Called to Ministry and co-writer of The Goddess Revival, as well as other books and articles, she has spoken frequently at college feminist groups in support of biblical equality.
