Cut Flowers
Female Genital Mutilation and a Biblical Response
by Sandy Willcox

Though growing numbers oppose it, the practice of female genital mutilation is considered beneficial by millions of women in Africa and Asia. This practice raises important questions about how far our cultures deviate from biblical norms, and how we can work with communities for changer. Cut Flowers offers valuable resources to pastors, counselors, health workers, teachers, and others who wish to address this issue.

SANDY WILLCOX was born in South Africa and currently teaches at a theological school in Ethiopia. Her interest in anthropology coupled with her Christian faith led her to ask questions about Female Genital Mutilation in Ethiopia and the rest of Africa. The church's low level of involvement compared to the excellent work being done by secular feminist organizations led her to write this book.
