This workshop applies the biblical concepts of spiritual gifts and the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12; Romans 12) to marriage. Gifting is considered through a variety of lenses—all of which are in concert with the scriptural principle of gifting. Among the resources examined and applied to couple gifting are Gardner's concept of multiple intelligences and Jay Thomas' strength-based system of understanding people and relationships. The research on emotional intelligence is also considered and related to the Christian principle of agape love as described in 1 Corinthians 13. Marital systems thinking and the concept of oneness as the Body of Christ can be understood in light of one another. Case examples are shared and participants are given opportunity to apply the concepts to their own marriages.

	RAND MICHAEL is currently an Associate Professor and Clinical Director of Marriage and Family Therapy at George Fox University in Portland, Oregon. Holding graduate degrees in both theology and counseling, he is a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He is also a Professional Member in both the American Counseling Association and the American Orthopsychiatric Association.
