Singer/songwriter Julia Bloom has recorded seven original acoustic folk songs that weave stories of women from the Bible and elsewhere with reflections about being female and faithful in a fallen world. Accompanied by stripped-down acoustic guitar and percussion, Bloom's vocals range from haunting to soaring. Her straightforward and thought-provoking lyrics wrestle with what it means to be a contemporary woman in the context of Scripture, chronicling an honest search for a loving God. In grappling with the negative messages she learned about women from the church, she discovers the truth about being created female in the image of God.

Julia Bloom sang her first solo in church around age 11, and has delighted in the gift of music ever since. She and her husband Nathan perform as an acoustic duo, Cabin of Love (www.cabinoflove.com), and recorded their debut CD, firstfruits, in 1998. A Human Called Woman is Blooms first solo project. She lives in Minneapolis with Nathan and their daughter, Lúthien; and she enjoys performing at local venues, as well as leading worship at Community Covenant Church in Minneapolis. |
