David Unander dispels common myths regarding ethnic and gender bias from biblical and scientific perspectives. Citing research from genetics, history, and scripture, this workshop provides a scholarly basis for understanding all humankind as one race with many ethnic expressions. 	DAVID UNANDER is Professor and Chair of the Department of Biology at Eastern University. Originally trained in genetics as a plant breeder, he first worked through the University of Puerto Rico on selection of improved vegetables in the Caribbean, and later with Nobel Laureate Baruch S. Blumberg of Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia on tropical plants possessing anti-viral effects against hepatitis B. Since 1992, he has worked full-time for Eastern. In 1993-94, he chaired a task force to design an interdisciplinary course, "Science, Technology, and Values," which is now required of all students.
