Sexual Exploitation and Violence toward Women: Global and Local Concerns

Sexual Exploitation and Violence toward Women
Global and Local Concerns
recording by Ellen Armstong

This workshop explores the extent of sexual exploitation and violence toward women in the 21st century on both a local and a global scale, with focusing on the issues of prostitution and the sex trafficking of women. After reflecting Biblically on these issues, Christians responses to these issues are also explored, including ideas for action and education.

ELLEN ARMSTRONG is the assistant project manager of Trust, a Christian community project supporting women involved in prostitution in South London. As well as training as a counselor, she is also completing a master's degree in theology. Her thesis is entitled "A Theological Reflection on Prostitution, and the Church's Response." Ellen is also an executive committee member of the Josephine Butler Society.
